The Artists' Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art Opens New Gallery Space in Delray Beach
Guild Moves from Boca's Mizner Park to Delray
Boca Raton, FL -- The Artists' Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art is delighted to announce the acquirement of a new gallery space in downtown Delray Beach. The gallery, located at 512 East Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, 33483, will house the group, which no longer resides in the retail space in Boca Raton's Mizner Park. The first juried exhibition in the new space will open to the public on November 16. A soft opening has been scheduled for November 19 and a grand opening will take place December 18. More

Boca Raton, FL -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art announces the exhibition Restless Exploration: Paintings and Prints by Dan Christensen from the Museum's Permanent Collection. The exhibition will be on display at The Art School's Gallery from October 10 through December 12, 2008. The exhibition will include 3 paintings and 23 silk screens.

Daniel James Christensen (1942 - 2007), born in Cozad, Nebraska, is a "natural" painter, best remembered for his unfettered use of color in various styles, including color field painting and lyrical abstraction. Christensen created a distinctive body of work that is original, surprising and filled with his sense of joy, exuberance and pleasure in the act of painting. Remarkably vibrant, his paintings and prints tell a deeply moving story about how exciting and fantastic life can be. Innocence, curiosity and desire haunt this painter's work. This is the world of a man whose dreams of childhood have never failed him as a source of inspiration. More

BOCA RATON MUSEUM OF ART OPENS SPRING EXHIBITIONS
Boca Raton, FL - On May 8, 2008, the Boca Raton Museum of Art held its Patrons and Members opening for spring exhibitions, American Impressionism: Works from the Bank of America Collection and In the Eye of the Beholder: Selections from the Art Galleries at Gallery Center. The exhibitions run through June 22, 2008.

Over 500 Museum Members and Patrons filled the first floor galleries to view these significant artworks prior to the exhibitions opening to the public the following day. At the reception guests were introduced to Geraldine Hessey, Senior Vice President, Bank of America and had the opportunity to speak with gallery owners from Gallery Center about the works on exhibition. Boca Raton Museum of Art Hosts Artist in Residency Program at Hammock Pointe Elementary School
Boca Raton, FL -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art announces the implementation an Artist in Residency program at Hammock Pointe Elementary School. The program, made possible by the generous funding of a Patron of the arts, enables the student population and staff to create works of art to be installed throughout the school campus. These works will both beautify the school and encourage participants to reach higher levels of learning through the visual arts. From the loose brushwork of American Impressionism to the technical mastery of photorealism and the passion and rhythm of 20th Century Latin Art, This Line up Packs a Punch

Boca Raton, FL -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art announces its extensive upcoming 2008-2009 season. The exciting line up includes a range of artistic expression, from the loose brushwork and vivid colors of American Impressionists to the provocative look at Florida through the eyes of emerging artists. The Museum also presents an intimate look at iconic pop artists Warhol, Wesslemann, Lichtenstein and Indiana. Then, known for its passion, rhythm, strong color and a marked degree of mysticism, 20th century Latin American art, along with the graphic work of Jose Clemente Orozco, brings a Latin flare to Boca this year. The season is wrapped up with Picture Perfect: Photorealism Revisited, one of the first attempts to reevaluate the achievements of first generation photo realists. As a major movement in American art in the 1970's, the bold and brash imagery of photorealism continues to be relevant today. More

Formal Luncheon Hosted in Honor of Degas & Tiffany at the Boca Raton Museum of Art

Boca Raton, FL - The Friends Auxiliary of the Boca Raton Museum of Art on Monday, February 25, celebrated the museum's current exhibitions, Degas in Bronze: The Complete Sculptures and Tiffany Studios: The Holtzman Collection.

The celebration featured a gallery tour with Senior Curator, Wendy Blazier. Guests explored the reasons why artist Edgar Degas is still considered a key figure in the evolution towards modernism. The group also learned why Louis Comfort Tiffany is considered the most creative designer of the nineteenth century, known for his unending "Pursuit of Beauty." A formal lunch was served in the Museum's Grand Hall to over 85 Friends Members and guests. A film presentation Degas and The Dance followed the luncheon. More

Winners of the 22nd Annual Juried Art Festival Announced

Boca Raton, FL -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art drew thousands of art lovers to the 22nd Annual Outdoor Juried Art Festival at Mizner Park this past weekend, February 9 and 10, 2008. The Festival showcased the works of 250 talented artists from around the country. Presenting sponsor of the festival, JM Lexus along with additional support provided by South Florida Sun-Sentinel, WXEL, News Channel 5, Mizner Park, Sunrise Cinemas and Center for the Arts lent support to the success of this year's festival.

"The success of this year's Annual Outdoor Juried Art Festival is due to the rising artists on the horizon whose energy and creativity merged with the artists of former art festivals," said Rhona Guberman, chairperson. The Boca Raton Museum of Art Celebrates Largest Scale Exhibition To Date

Boca Raton, FL, February 1, 2008 -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art opened its most exceptional exhibitions to date, Degas in Bronze: The Complete Sculptures and Tiffany Studios: The Holtzman Collection, with a Patrons Opening on Thursday, January 24 and Members Opening on Friday, January 25. A record number of attendees totaling 1,570 patrons of the arts, members, dignitaries, art aficionados and politicians celebrated the occasion.

As guests arrived at the Museum they were greeted by statuesque ballet dancers from Boca Ballet. The dancers amiably donated their time and set the perfect tone for the evening. Inside, guests were among the first to view 73 spectacular Degas sculptures. The centerpiece of the exhibition is Edgar Degas's visually stunning ballet dancer. The Museum's North Gallery was beautifully lit with the glow of 33 Tiffany glass lamps and additional glassworks never before publicly exhibited. More

The Boca Raton Museum of Art's Best of Jazz Brings out the Best of Boca
18th Annual Auction Proves to be a Huge Success

Boca Raton, FL -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art held its 18th Annual Auction this past weekend on Sunday, December 9 at the Delray Beach Marriott. The over 300 attendees got the chance to bid on over 425 premier items. Guests enjoyed a live performance of "THE BEST OF JAZZ" presented by the Bob Hanni Jazz Ensemble featuring Edwin Polokoff, Board of Trustees, as master of ceremonies.

"We are thrilled with the support the Auction received from the numerous volunteers, Museum members, auction guests, and the community," said Elizabeth Kelley Grace, Auction co-chair.
