The Meet a Master, Create a Masterpiece Roadshow provides visual arts programming to out-of-school agencies and their students. Currently, the Museum partners with three organizations in Boca Raton - Wayne Barton Study Center, Youth Activity Center at Veterans Park, and the Florence Fuller Development Center, both the east and west sites. These out-of-school organizations provide after school activities for students from local schools. The goals of the Meet a Master, Create a Masterpiece Roadshow program are to assist the children (grades 3-5 and 6-12) in learning how to look at art by facilitating critical thinking skills, exploring visual thinking strategies, practicing aesthetic scanning, and becoming lifelong museum visitors.
Through an illustrated discussion, participants learn about a master artist from the museum collection. Concentrating on that specific artist for two weeks, the children create their own artwork in the style of the focus artist with the support of a Museum art instructor. Following each six week session, participants visit the Museum for an instructor-led tour to view the original artwork.
Due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, this program has been temporarily paused.
