About This Event
Transparent, translucent, opaque: glassy thinking and affective power
The incredible material of glass can hold a range of different meanings, associations, and atmospheres. On the occasion of the exhibition Glasstress Boca Raton 2021, Susie Silbert, Curator of Postwar & Contemporary Glass at the Corning Museum of Glass, looks at developments in artistic approaches to glass from artists, artisans, and designers. She places the exhibition’s artwork within a broader narrative of contemporary glass. At its core, this talk provides insight to the questions: How did we get here? What does it mean to make work in glass? What does glass offer to artists?
