Elements of Expression (Ages 5-8)

The program begins with definitions and projects of the elements of expression, such as line, value, color, texture, shape and space. We also work with different techniques of painting, such as pencil, colored pencils, charcoal, pastel chalk, oil pastel, acrylic and watercolor.

Once we have reviewed the basics we continue with lessons I call, Art through Time. During these classes I transport my students through art from prehistoric times to contemporary art, studying many eras, trends, and styles. These projects include cave painting, renaissance, impressionism, abstract art, surrealism, pop art and others with their respective practices.
